FOR THE PARIS OLYMPICS I WANTED TO TELL A STORY SPECFICALLY AROUND WOMEN OF SPORT. I WAS ORIGINALLY INSPIRED BY MIKAELA SHIFFRIN WHO HAD JUST MADE THE NY TIMES TOP 100 LIST. HER STORY IS ONE OF STRENGTH AND WOMEN’S POSITIVITY. AS A WOMAN IN SPORT IT HASN’T ALWAYS BEEN THAT WAY. PARIS WAS THE FIRST OLYMPIAD TO ALLOW WOMEN TO COMPETE SO IT WAS THE PERFECT TIME TO TELL THIS STORY. ALTHOUGH MIKAELA IS A WINTER ATHLETE HER MOTO “ABFTB” (ALWAYS BE FASTER THAN THE BOYS) RESONATES FOR ALL WOMEN. FOR MOOD AND COLOR DIRECTION I LOOKED TO PARIS WITH ITS BOLD STORE FRONTS, RAINBOW MACAROONS AND THE QUINTESSENTIAL “FRENCH WOMAN”.

THE HUGE EMERGENCE OF FLORALS FOR MEN CAN BE SEEN ON THE RUNWAY FOR THE LAST FEW SEASONS AND RECENTLY WITHIN STREETWEAR. I WANTED TO EXPLORE A MODERN PASTEL PALETTE FOR HIM AND NEW WAYS TO APPLY FLORAL TO FOOTWEAR AND APPAREL. SUSTAINABILITY IS VERY IMPORTANT TO THIS CONSUMER AND MERGING BOTANICAL DYES AND PLANTABLE PACKAGING TAKES THIS CONCEPT TO A NEW LEVEL.
